2000 – to date: Business in the Community - Field Director.
As part of the CEO team reporting directly to the Chief Executive, Paul
has responsibility for financial and operational development of the
English regions, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regional teams work
with our 750 member companies developing their corporate social
responsibility and their impact on disadvantaged UK communities.
1997:
Business in the Community - Regional Director for Wales, liaising with
over 300 private sector companies on their community impact programmes.
Project Director for the Penrhys Partnership, an amalgam of public,
private and not-for-profit sectors working to improve the quality of
life in marginalised areas, undertaking significant capital projects and
sustaining a range of successful education, cultural and training
initiatives.
1991:
Consultant with the Prince’s Trust working on development programmes
for young people in disadvantaged areas.
1986:
Director at the Extra Mural Centre, United World College of the Atlantic
with responsibility for finance, strategy, marketing, training and
development.
Other
areas of work included liaison with senior level executives within
public and private sectors; provision of residential personal
development and vocational training courses for groups nationwide;
senior management training for multi-national companies and consultancy
work on income generation and resource management at the sister college
in New Mexico.
1984:
Director of the Ackers Trust Birmingham with total responsibility for a
multi purpose education and leisure project including strategy, staffing,
finance,
fundraising,
training and development. Other work included links with local
government and the private sector; special education and training
programmes for the long-term unemployed, and marketing customised
training packages for the private sector.

Paul
will talk about the growth of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and
the work of Business in the Community highlighting the positive impact
of private sector company involvement in regenerating disadvantaged
communities. He will articulate the business case for responsible
business practice and talk also about how communities view the
partnership with the private sector. In closing, Paul will offer a
personal view of CSR and issues that might impact on this. |
